The Effective Problem Solving (EPS) Method

About EPS

Effective Problem Solving (EPS) is a general method for solving problems that I have learned from others and that I teach.

The modifier “general” means that the method works on all types of problems in all contexts and it works for either groups or individuals.

There are many reasons why I think that EPS is worthwhile. Here are some of them. EPS reveals the solution to you; that is, you don’t need to know how to solve the problem you face because the method reveals the solution to you. This is so cool that it is like magic. EPS leads to the best results with the least effort and the most learning and enjoyment. Also, applying EPS gives us the highest probability of solving a problem.

The Method

The method has an outer loop and many inner loops.

The Outer Loop (Subgoals Cycle)

The actions that make up EPS outer loop are summarized in Fig. 1.

The Inner Loop (Results Cycle)

The heart of EPS is an iterative process called the results cycle for reaching subgoals. Here are the actions of the results cycle (Fig. 2).
