Definition of Research

Research is the process of getting information.

Everyone has their own methods for doing research. The method that I use and that I teach is called effective research.

Definition of Effective Research

Effective research (ER) is a method of getting information that is defined by the actions taken and rewards that one gets for taking these actions.

The set of actions taken are {asking cogent questions, doing primary research, secondary research, and internal research, documenting, iterating, measuring the quality of information, and so on}

The set of rewards are {good information, minimum effort, maximum enjoyment, maximum learning, archival documentation, and so on}

Good information meets seven criteria: super useful, true, accurate, complete, easy-to-understand, well organized, and justified.
