Balanced Wellbeing
Wellbeing refers to the overall level of quality in a holistic sense of life for an actor (person or group).
Balanced wellbeing refers to an actor harmoniously doing everything that matters to them such that they maximize their wellbeing in a holistic sense for their current context (surrounding circumstances).
For an individual this involves taking actions that give them the optimum balance of health, social wellbeing, professional accomplishments, financial wellbeing, adventures, or whatever matters the most to this person.
For a group such as a company this involves taking actions that that give them the best possible balance of financial wellbeing, customer satisfaction, healthy culture, impact, or whatever matters the most to this company.
Balancing wellbeing is dynamic, not static, because circumstances change with time.
Rationale
Align actions with priorities (what is most important).
Maximize wellbeing: best wellbeing in the present.
Grow wellbeing: improve wellbeing on
Balanced Well Being (How To Get)
TODO: (2024-04-07) Finish this section and write the summary. Consider tying this into a design-build-apply-improve loop note.
Use an iterative approach that involves the following actions.
Design: Figure out your system
Roles. Figure out and list each area of responsibility or interest that is relevant to the actor. Group things so that the result has fewer than about 8 roles. Describe quality in each role. Prioritize the roles from most important to least and figure out the best way to prioritizes resources (time, effort, cost, and so on) to each role.
Actions: For each role, list all actions that might be worth taking. Prioritize these. It may be useful to classify actions as ongoing or regular actions (operations) or actions that need to be on a one-time basis (projects). Update the action lists on an ongoing basis.
Execution: Work your system and pay attention, without judgement, to what is working and what is not. Inventory ideas for improving your system.
Iteration and Growth: Figure out how to redesign your system and then implement this.
Summary
Balanced wellbeing is when an actor maximizes their present wellbeing by aligning their resources with their roles and their priorities within each role.
